Getting To Aspen

Getting to Aspen, CO is easy! Why? Aspen, not only has its own airport (Sardy Field - ASE), located 5 minutes from downtown and the Aspen Square, but too, is in easy access of another 2 airports; Eagle County Airport and Denver International Airport.

Aspen, CO - Sardy Field (ASE)
The Aspen Sardy Field Airport (ASE) is just three miles from the town of Aspen Colorado, and is served by over 200 flights each week in winter and a lesser number in the summer. Fly directly from Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles and San Francisco in the winter ski season, with direct flights limited in the summer.  Still, daily flights between Aspen and Denver are frequent all summer long with  Airline carries Frontier Airlines and United Airlines.

Eagle County Airport (EGE)
Located just 70 miles from Aspen, flights into Eagle County Airport are offered from 11 cities on five major airlines during the winter months;  American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, United Express, and US Airways provide winter non-stop jet service between EGE and thirteen major U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Newark, and Philadelphia. 

Denver Intenational Airport (DIA)
In addition to airports in Eagle and Aspen Colorado, visitors can also choose to fly into Denver International Airport (DIA). Located 220 Miles from Aspen, this airport offers some of the best airfares rates in Colorado and daily direct international flights. From Denver, take ground transportation to Aspen and enjoy a four hour scenic drive through the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Gray Lines
New this season is Gray Line’s year-round service to the four mountains of Aspen/Snowmass. Gray Line offers conveniently scheduled service from Denver International Airport (DEN). Guests will enjoy on-board entertainment with customized amenities as well as automatic snowchains on all motorcoaches. In addition, Gray Line’s Aspen service is supplemented by service from Eagle County Airport (EGE) and the Aspen Pitkin County Airport (ASE).

From Aspen Airport
Turn right on Highway 82 and travel for approximately 3 miles and you will be in the center of Aspen.

From Denver and Eagle Airport
Aspen is 220 miles or four hours from Denver. From both airports get on I-70 west to Glenwood Springs, connecting to Highway 82, at exit #116, to Aspen. Another scenic route from Denver takes approximately 3 1/2 hours via I-70 west to Highway 24 south, then west onto Highway 82 over Independence Pass (open only during the warm weather months, typically May 31 to Oct. 31st) into Aspen.

RFTA Buses

All points in Aspen can be reached using the RFTA bus system. Within the City of Aspen and many routes running between Aspen and Snowmass Village are free.

Whether or not you have a car in town, RFTA provides the easiest access to all four Mountains.  Each RFTA bus is fitted with ski racks and wheel well snow brushes that help keep your skis clean while in transit. All buses can accommodate regular skis, hyperbolic skis, and snowboards. Both the city buses and buses to Buttermilk, Highlands and between Aspen and Snowmass are always free.

City buses take skiers to-and-from Rubey Park where they can board buses to the other three ski areas and down valley. Rubey Park is located only three blocks from the Aspen Square, at a walking distance.
