Jeep Tours in Aspen and Snowmass

Jeep tours in the Aspen and Snowmass area welcome adventurers into pristine mountain landscapes.
Most Aspen and Snowmass jeep tours are provided by the guides at Blazing Adventures, an Aspen company offering outdoor adventure trips from whitewater rafting to horseback riding and more.

Blazing Adventures' guides take jeep tourists in off-road vehicles that easily tackle rugged mountain roads. Though there certainly are a few bumps along the way, for the most part, jeep tourists can sit back and enjoy passing through verdant aspen and pine forests that open up onto high alpine meadows vibrant with colorful wildflowers.

Jeep tours are offered in beautiful locations throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, including Aspen Mountain, Snowmass Mountain, Lenado, Taylor Pass, and the Snowmass Creek Valley. With half and full day jeep tours, there are Aspen Snowmass backcountry jeep tours awaiting everyone's taste for mountain adventure.

The Aspen Mountain Gold Hill Jeep Tour climbs up along the backside of Aspen Mountain, and snakes across Gold Hill Ridge and Richmond Ridge. The drive to the top affords sweeping mountain views of the surrounding Elk Mountains. After enjoying a snack at the top of Aspen Mountain, the jeep tour guide makes the descent via Little Annie Basin, which is scattered with the remnants of Aspen's once booming mining industry. The Aspen Mountain Gold Hill Jeep Tour is a three hour trip, and is offered from May 15 – October 15.

The Taylor Pass Jeep Tour goes through the Castle Creek Valley and up Express Creek Road to reach the top of Taylor Pass where there rests Taylor Lake. Enjoy a delicious lunch in front of this sparkling high alpine lake, and look out at the mountainous landscape that includes views of the Gunnison Valley. This jeep tour adventures into a high alpine environment, where the flora and fauna are dramatically different, but just as spectacular, from those found in aspen and pine forests. Explore new terrain on the Taylor Pass Jeep Tour.

The Snowmass Mountain Elk Camp Wilderness Jeep Tour climbs to the top of Burnt Mountain, part of the Snowmass Mountain ski area. From the summit of Burnt Mountain, which sits at an elevation of 11,325 feet, jeep tourists can soak in views of Willow Creek and the surrounding mountains. As its name connotes, this area is a veritable elk camp in the summertime. On the Elk Camp Wilderness Jeep Tour, venture into a favorite elk herd summer grazing area, where lucky jeep tourists might even spot an elk or deer herd. The Elk Camp Wilderness Jeep Tour on Snowmass Mountain is three hours long, and trips are available from May 15 – October 15.

The Historic Lenado Jeep Tour travels through the scenic and small mountain communities of Woody Creek and Lenado. After learning about Woody Creek's and Lenado's interesting histories, this jeep tour makes its way to the top of Larkspur Mountain. From the Larkspur summit, an incredible view of the mountains surrounding Aspen. During the five hour Historic Lenado trip, hungry jeep tourists can enjoy a lovely alpine picnic at the top of Larkspur Mountain, the perfect scenic spot to eat a delicious lunch.

The Scenic and Historic Driving Jeep Tour is held twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon, and held year round. This three hour jeep tour explores the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond, allowing jeep tourists to take in the beautiful mountain views, while learning more about the history of this western landscape. The jeep tour guide drives up Independence Pass, through the Castle Creek Valley to Ashcroft, along the Watson Divide Road, through the Snowmass Creek Valley, up Red Mountain, and along McLain Flats Road, making for a tour that truly explores a large stretch of the upper Roaring Fork Valley.

Since many of the jeep tours travel into high alpine environments, it is recommended that jeep tourists be prepared for a colder climate by wearing hiking shoes or boots and multiple, warm layers. In addition, it is recommended to bring a camera, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water.
